Premier League preview – Week 32

Reading v Southampton

Key Battle: Nigel Adkins brings his new Reading team to face his old Southampton team he left this season. How will Adkins do against his replacement Mauricio Pochettino?

Player to Watch: Rickie Lambert is in fantastic form and that man can fire Southampton to another important win.

Talking Point: Southampton’s form is good and they are looking like they are moving away from the drop zone, whilst Reading desperately need points.

Prediction: 0-2

Norwich v Swansea

Key Battle: Sebastien Bassong has been superb this season but will have a tough afternoon trying to keep Michu quiet.

Player to Watch: Pablo Hernandez’ passing ability and tricky wing play could cause no end of problems for the home team.

Talking Point: Norwich have been a bit of a bogey team for Swansea of late and they can continue that here as they look for three crucial points.

Prediction: 1-0

Stoke v Aston Villa

Key Battle: Ryan Shawcross is one of the league’s more agricultural defenders and he will have a difficult afternoon up against Christian Benteke

Player to Watch: Andreas Weimann has been in fine form for Villa of late and given time and space he will harm Stoke.

Talking Point: Villa are fighting valiantly against the drop, whilst Stoke are dropping like a stone.

Prediction: 0-1

West Brom v Arsenal

Key Battle: Claudio Yacob will have to work hard to try and keep Santi Cazorla quiet in this clash in the absence of Yussuf Mulumbu

Player to Watch: Gervinho was in fantastic form against Reading last time out, unusually, can he keep up the good performances?

Talking Point: West Brom have little left to play for but are always a difficult team to face. Arsenal desperately need points in the battle for fourth.

Prediction: 0-1

Liverpool v West Ham

Key Battle: Luis Suarez will cause no end of problems for the Hammers and Winston Reid could be in for a long afternoon against the Uruguayan.

Player to Watch: Coutinho has been sparkling with ideas since signing for Liverpool and he can be a key danger here.

Talking Point: Three points may not be enough to get Liverpool back in the top four picture but they want to finish the season on a high anyway.

Prediction: 4-0

Tottenham v Everton

Key Battle: Marouane Fellaini will hope to rediscover his early season form up against Scott Parker in the Tottenham midfield this weekend.

Player to Watch: Gareth Bale, who else? The Welshman cannot stop scoring from all sorts of angles.

Talking Point: Tottenham are in need of big points as they look to keep up the pressure in the race for a top four finish.

Prediction: 2-1

Chelsea v Sunderland

Key Battle: The battle on the sidelines may be fascinating here, with Paolo di Canio taking charge of Sunderland for the first time up against the interim manager Rafa Benitez.

Player to Watch: Juan Mata is integral to Chelsea and if he plays well then he can drag them through games.

Talking Point: Sunderland may come out with renewed vigour after the appointment of di Canio, but will it be enough to get him off to a good start?

Prediction: 2-1

Newcastle v Fulham

Key Battle: Papiss Cisse has been in decent form of late and will hope to get the better of Brede Hangeland.

Player to Watch: Dimitar Berbatov has scored in his last four games and so Newcastle must be wary of the brilliant Bulgarian.

Talking Point: Can Newcastle get another vital three points to help them climb away from the relegation scrap?

Prediction: 3-1

QPR v Wigan

Key Battle: Loic Remy looks to help try and claw QPR towards safety, but will he get the better of the goalscoring forwards with Arouna Kone?

Player to Watch: James McCarthy is the key man in midfield for Wigan and if he runs this game for the visitors they could run riot.

Talking Point: A massive game for both sides in the battle against relegation. Who will come out on top?

Prediction: 1-2

Man Utd v Man City

Key Battle: Robin van Persie has not scored much of late but he will surely be sharp for the visit of City, for whom Vincent Kompany will be tasked with keeping him quiet.

Player to Watch: David Silva was in good form last week for City against Newcastle and he will hope to continue in that vein.

Talking Point: This game finished 6-1 to City last season. Surely no repeat will happen this year as United look to wrap up the title.

Prediction: 3-0
