Premier League preview – Week 37

Arsenal v Norwich

Key Battle: Arsenal need the win but defensively they will have to ensure Thomas Vermaelen keeps dangerous forward Grant Holt at bay

Player to Watch: Robin van Persie has not been in the great goalscoring form of the start of the season but he scored last weekend and will try to as well this

Talking Point: Norwich may have their heads on the close season, whilst for Arsenal there is still third place to play for.

Prediction: 3-0

Newcastle v Man City

Key Battle: Vincent Kompany netted the winner against Man Utd but he will have to be at his best defensively against Papiss Cisse

Player to Watch: Hatem ben Arfa has been in great form and can cause City problems

Talking Point: City have had a remarkable recovery to go top of the league, but the pressure will be on them this weekend here.

Prediction: 2-1

Aston Villa v Tottenham

Key Battle: Gareth Bale will look to get the better of Villa and their defenders, whoever plays at right back, which could be Alan Hutton.

Player to Watch: Emmanuel Adebayor looked like he was back in form against Bolton and will be a handful.

Talking Point: Tottenham’s big players looked like they had rediscovered their early season form on Wednesday, and that could be ominous for Villa

Prediction: 0-4

Bolton v West Brom

Key Battle: Yousef Mulumbu against Nigel Reo Coker could be a pivotal battle in the middle of the park.

Player to Watch: Bolton will hope Kevin Davies can continue his recent good form to guide them to what would be a vital win

Talking Point: With Roy Hodgson set to leave, it will either galvanise or deflate his team – Bolton may need the points more though

Prediction: 3-0

Wolves v Everton

Key Battle: Matt Jarvis looked in good form against Swansea but will take on Everton, who are looking solid, and Tony Hibbert.

Player to Watch: Leon Osman continues to impress quietly for Everton, who are in great form

Talking Point: Wolves took advantage of an experimental Swansea system last weekend and Everton will be a sterner test

Prediction: 0-3

Man Utd v Swansea

Key Battle: Leon Britton will be hard to shrug off the ball but Paul Scholes will make this a battle of the passers

Player to Watch: Antonio Valencia did not play against Man City and will surely have something to prove here

Talking Point: Swansea experimented last weekend whilst United need a win – and by some distance too to close the goal difference gap

Prediction: 6-1

Blackburn v Wigan

Key Battle: James McArthur’s play in the middle will be tricky to stop and Stephen N’Zonzi will have to be sharp here

Player to Watch: Victor Moses was brilliant against Newcastle and will be full of confidence

Talking Point: Both teams need the points, arguably Blackburn more, so this will be a fascinating duel

Prediction: 1-3

Liverpool v Chelsea

Key Battle: Liverpool will dominate so Luis Suarez will be tasked with getting the better of a Chelsea defence and David Luiz

Player to Watch: Fernando Torres returns to Anfield desperate to prove a point

Talking Point: Much will depend on how they do in the cup final on Saturday between themselves, but Liverpool are the better team. Then again, Chelsea’s fortune in recent weeks has carried them, and it would be no surprise if Liverpool hit the post three times and Torres’ scored on the break

Prediction: 0-1

Fulham v Sunderland

Key Battle: Clint Dempsey will be a handful for the Sunderland back line and Michael Turner

Player to Watch: Alex Frei has looked dangerous of late and may cause problems for the Sunderland defence

Talking Point: Whilst Sunderland look like they want to be on holiday, Fulham continue to march on impressive

Prediction: 5-0

QPR v Stoke

Key Battle: Djibril Cisse will look to use his pace to get the better of Ryan Shawcross here

Player to Watch: Sure to be a battle, Joey Barton may be crucial in a physical encounter like this

Talking point: QPR are in desperate need of the points and will be determined to make the fight against relegation continue to the final day

Prediction: 1-0
