Reading boss Steve Coppell hopes the club will be able to add to his squad in the January transfer market.
He said: “I certainly hope we can bring some people in. I still think we’re a bit more vulnerable than most. We have a small squad and, if you lose some of those links in the chain, you might feel it more than others. This is a continuous test for us.
“We’re also vulnerable because we’ve no track record in this league. We don’t know how we’re going to react to the season, we don’t know how we’re going to react to a couple of key injuries.
“We really don’t know what the future holds. So there’s no way we can contemplate anything other than a really stiff test every time we play.”
