Taylor said: “I can reveal it now – when I was at Villa I tried to sign Cahill at Millwall but he did his cruciate ligaments and that was the end of that.
“I also tried to sign (Steven) Reid and (Gary) Holt. I felt, with (Peter) Crouch, that all four of those players could have moved up.”
