Taylor has been out with a hamstring injury since early January, but is now close to a return.
“Steven was in the team, was playing well and Mike had to sit it out,” said Newcastle boss Alan Pardew.
“It’s vice versa this time because Coloccini and Williamson were terrific on Saturday.
“He will play a reserve game against Manchester United next week and then he should be available for our home game against Bolton.”
