Fergie says Tevez would be crazy to leave Old Trafford next summer.
Ferguson insisted: “There have been negotiations going on for quite a few weeks about Carlos so hopefully it will happen soon.
“I don’t know if it’s true Madrid want him. It could be, but I am confident he will be staying with us.
“Carlos knows how well we’ve treated him and what kind of club he’s at.
“We wouldn’t want to lose him. He is popular with the players and the fans. I don’t have any worries about him going.”
