Usmanov looks to increase Arsenal shares

The Uzbek billionaire currently holds 26.9 per cent of the Arsenal shares, whilst American rival Stanley Kroenke owns 29.98 per cent.

He said: “Today, we have 27 percent. Our objective is to bring that up to a blocking stake of 29.9 percent. And from there, we will just keep looking. You can never tell about what happens in life.”

Ownership rules state that should either Usmanov or Kroenke own 30 per cent or more of Arsenal’s shares, they must launch a bid to purchase the club outright.
