But Ferguson believes Ryan Giggs will be out for ‘a couple of weeks’ after picking up a hamstring injury in the 2-2 draw against Bolton on Sunday.
Rooney sustained a ankle problem in the same game and was forced to be replaced.
Ferguson said: “Ryan is the most serious, it’s a hamstring and I’m afraid he will be out for a couple of weeks.
“I’m sure Wayne will get ready for Wednesday.”
